Strategy vs Niche

Many Virtual Assistants talk about having an excellent strategy and niche....but what are they and how do they affect a virtual PA?
A strategy is a general plan to achieve one or more long-term goals under conditions of uncertainty. It involves resource allocation, integrating organisation activities and utilizing scarce resources effectively to meet objectives. As a PA you need to have this to be able to reach your long term goals. You need to know your goals and how you're going to reach them with a plan.
Niche is simply a specific place or position that is particularly appropriate for someone or something, often due to its uniqueness. A virtual PA needs to find something they excel in and make it their niche but making sure there is a gap in the market for this niche. It is also described as a specialist segment/role in a larger community, so in the VA world, rather than being generic and covering everything, what part of it are you going to specialise and advertise to the business world? It is then up to you to decide what you want to specialise in and how you're going to get there.
Find your niche. Create your own strategy.
