You don't need to know the whole plan

I'm Julie the one who prefers to work behind the scenes, but has had to get out of my comfort zone a few times in the past few weeks.
If you had told me six months ago I'd leave my job as a receptionist to join a new business venture, I would have said something like "I wish I had the guts", but sometimes, the universe nudges you, softly at first, and then all at once.
It all started with a conversation. My reception manager reached out and asked if I'd be interested in helping out with a new business venture she was starting. She needed someone reliable, organised, and willing to jump in with both feet to help with admin, documents, scheduling and communication. At first I wasn't sure. I had a job, a routine, a wage and yet... I felt excited about the opportunity, the team I would be working with and most of all being part of a new exciting business. So, I said yes, even though I was scared.
I was planning to work my reception job alongside the new venture, but things didn't work out with doing the two, but walking away from my reception job wasn't easy. I didn't leave because I hated it, I wanted a challenge, to grow, and most of all I wanted to believe in something again, even if it was brand new and unproven.
So I joined The Versatile Support Team Ltd, not as the founder, but as part of the foundations. Every day looks a little different, but I love that. My role includes setting up and formatting documents, supporting team members with whatever needs to be done and keeping communication flowing, which is easy with us five. It may sound simple, but these pieces are what hold everything together and for the first time, I feel like what I do really matters.
Truthfully? I was scared to leave y receptionist job. Scared of the unknown, scared I'd fail or not be good enough. But I've learned something really important: being scared doesn't mean you're not ready, it just means you care. Sometimes, taking a chance on something new, even if it's a little risky, and filled with uncertainty, is exactly what you need to do sometimes. I don't have it all figured out yet, I'm still adjusting, learning, growing and showing up for something that feels real and alive and I'm proud of that.
If someone offers you an unexpected opportunity that both excites and terrifies you then consider this your sign. You don't need to know the whole plan, sometimes all you need is the courage to say yes and the willingness to show up and figure it out as you go. That's what I'm doing, one day at a time.
Let's remind each other: We're braver and stronger than we think!
